Cal and Mare have some tension going on between them as does Evangeline and Elane (see above). Maven's was alright I don't have much to say about his. Cal's POV was almost him constantly whining about how we couldn't have Mare or his Mother. And the book does have a non-detailed scene of the two being in bed together. First of all, it's disgusting that Evangeline wants to be with her brother's wife. All she did was complain about how she and Elane couldn't be together. However, I could not stand Evangeline's POV. Mare's POV was about the same as the other books: dull and snail-paced. Speaking of Iris, I would have loved to know more about her story. There were hardly any chapters devoted to Cal and Maven, while Mare, Evangeline, and Iris held the spotlight. Having 5 Point of Views (POVs) was not a good idea. From the pacing to the way the characters acted, I feel like Aveyard wanted to give her readers a big book (662 pages!) but the book has so much filler it's not even enjoyable.

Everything about it was uneven and sloppy.
